Georgetown visits DePaul in Big East clash
Jan. 8, 2008/By Nick Bailey
The DePaul Blue Demons will be shooting for an upset – and their fifth-straight win – when they host the No. 7 Georgetown Hoyas in Big East play tonight.
The Blue Demons have their work cut out for them, however, as they haven’t beaten the Hoyas in the past six meetings.
Georgetown (11-1 SU, 4-5 ATS) will be looking for its fourth consecutive victory.
The Hoyas are a 7½-point favorite at BetUS, while the over/under is 135½.
Georgetown opened Big East play on Saturday, beating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 58-46 in New Jersey. The Hoyas failed to cover the 15½-point spread, while the score was under the total of 127. Austin Freeman scored 13 points for the Hoyas.
DePaul (6-7 SU, 5-6 ATS) has already played two Big East games, winning them both. DePaul opened conference play with an 84-76 upset of the No. 17 Villanova Wildcats last week before dumping the Providence Friars 70-65 on Saturday.
DePaul covered the 1½-point spread and the 135 points were under the total of 156½.
Georgetown’s only loss this season came against the No. 2 Memphis Tigers on Dec. 22.
Georgetown is 5-0 ATS in its past five against DePaul, while DePaul is 18-7 SU in its past 25 at home.
The total has gone Over in four of DePaul's past six at home, and in six of DePaul's past nine overall.
The game can be seen on ESPNU at 9 pm ET.
