No Shaq as Suns face Warriors in division clash

Feb 13, 2008 / By Rob Gerein

NBA Betting stats indicate the public is picking the underdog Phoenix Suns to beat the spread when they face the Golden State Warriors in a clash of NBA Pacific division rivals tonight.

The visiting Suns are a 2½-point, +120 moneyline underdog at Sportsbook.com, while the over/under total is 234.

About 60 per cent of wagers on this NBA matchup at online sportsbooks are on Phoenix.

Shaquille O’Neal, acquired in a trade with the Miami Heat last week, is not expected to be in the lineup for Phoenix as he continues to nurse an injury.

Phoenix sits atop the Pacific while Golden State is five games back of the lead. Both teams have won two straight and are 7-3 SU in their past 10.

Phoenix has an advantage over the past 10 head-to-head, going 6-4 SU. Each team has covered the spread five times over that span. They last met on Nov. 26, when the Warriors won 129-114, as 4½-point home underdogs. The score was over the total of 228.

The Suns (36-15 SU, 22-27-2 ATS) beat the Washington Wizards 108-107 as an 11-point favorite on Sunday. The score went over the over/under total of 210. Amare Stoudemire scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Phoenix, while Raja Bell added 21 points in the win.

The Warriors (31-20 SU, 22-29 ATS) outplayed the Wizards in the fourth quarter to come away with a 120-117 win on Monday, as 11-point underdogs. The score was over the total of 214. Stephen Jackson led with a game-high 41 points in leading the Warriors. Monta Ellis chipped in with 22 points in the win.

The total has gone over in five of the past six meetings in Golden State. Phoenix is 4-1 SU and ATS in its past five on the road.

Golden State is 5-1 SU in its past six at home.

The game starts at 9 pm ET and can be seen on ESPN.
