Seven first-time winners brought home Silver Slugger Awards on Friday. First baseman Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers and shortstop Jimmy Rollins of the Philadelphia Phillies, two of the top candidates for National League Most Valuable Player honors, each picked up their first Silver Slugger, along with LA Dodgers catcher Russell Martin, Detroit Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Micah Owings, Tampa Bay Devil Rays first baseman Carlos Pena and New York Mets third baseman David Wright.
